Week 1 Solutions?

:( not sure if they are right,
the retirement benefit at the end of age 65 would be $256,622

excluding the sum of salaries(celerys?)
and sum of salary would be $1,741,377

am i correct, please upload your answerz.

btw, can some one tell me whether we can purchase the acst151 textbook 2nite, or we'll have to wait till 2moro after 10am.

thanx

edit: there was a small but obvious, and stupid mistake i discovered, and now fixed.
Another amendment.
question, the 3% interest doesn't kick in until 8% of the salary==> ie) the super amount stays in the fund for 1 year? ie) only start x by 1.03 when he/she is 22?

click for 'by changing cell'?
u put in the cell reference (e.g> B:3 or something) for the interest rate. :)

also
but i dont think ill have that much time to spend online ... o well!
the most depressing thing i have heard all year, :(
if no time for posting, then no time for fun, :(

well fellaz
i got $1,741,376.56 as the total income and accumulated retirement fund is $259,438.67

did you guys use spread sheet?

either u used calcs and memory erased small decimals, coz mines very close to byteme's answer. Or we're having some confusion with end and start of years?

my interpretation:
salary wen 21 = 30k*1.01, wen 22 = 30k*1.01*1.01 .....etc
super contribution wen 20=0, 21=0.075*(salary wen 21)
super fund wen 20=0, 21=(super contribution)*1.03

find super contibution until 65 and dats the accumulated fund.

aw man, u answered q2 the same way as isaaq and willy

y do u reckon he gets nuffin for super contribution wen he's 21?

i mean look at the salary field
he gets 30k wen he's 20. But technically he's not getting that until end of the yr after he works for the year.

I fink ur using accrual and (another method i cant remember name) mixed up 2gether

*shrugs*

but i dunno how bobby and byteme got their answers if they were using spread sheet

to some extent, answer (using the the *2 below) is 259 188 using excel.

now, my question is: how much goes into the super fund at the age of 21?

1. 30,000 * 0.075
or
2. 30,300 * 0.075
???????

Bobby:

30300*0.075

remember that John Shepherd said that the guy gets paid all his money on his birthday. I think we can assume that the employer contributes to the super fund the day that the guy gets paid all his cash. Therefore, the day he turns 21, he makes $30300 and $30300*0.075 is put into the fund.

re malachite:

I think the only place where Flyin' and I differ to your solution is in the first compounded super. At exactly 21, the compounded super is simply equal to the contribution that year (as he is paid on his birthday, and super is contributed also on his birthday). The compounding process hasn't had time to start.

agree Flyin'?

did u want it to be marked? :(
and support from perdisco emailed me saying that the broken connection for credit card payment is due to a technical hitch, .... it seem eveything is due to a tech ....
so, they gave me a telephone number to ring for manual credit card payment.
