**Portable CD/MP3 Players** (1 Viewer)

Hi

Would anyone here have a recommendation for a good quality Portable CD/MP3 Player under $130?

I have seen the -
Panasonic SLSX-428 for $129 (this week's Target flyer)
Sanyo CDPM470 for $109 (this week's Target flyer)
Philips EXP220/01 for $120ish (Myer Sydney City)

I would like it to -
play CD-R/W
have the ID-tag function so you can see the track name etc
have a good battery life play time - rechargeable capable too
Bass boost
Anti-shock (is Sony "G shock" more than 45 sec?)
Store a few 100 tracks per CD

dont trust sanyo's, teacs, and other crppier brands.
I owned a teac cd/mp3 player...was alrite and i am using it on the train and the thing wrecks my cd...with anti skip on!
usually mp3 playing has more longer anit skip protection.
panaphonics, i mean panasonic is good.

but nothin beats sony!

i'd be a bit pissed becoz it dont have illumination on the lcd but otherwise not a bad choice and ill quote another simpsons character: "I like it".

$120 get a telefunken one from target, i got one as a present and it is good, idont use it, because i bought myself an ipod, but its tiny, light, bubblegum batteries and has its place in my draw, or sometimes as an mp3 player on my stereo when i plug it up with RCA cable

i got a $399 sony one for $199.. Mp3 illuminated + ID3

personally shop around and drive a bargain.. esp that pana one

I bought this HP 128Mb MP3 Player from cworld. It's never run out of battery (used it for about 6 months for 4 hours a day), and it's still working perfect. I still use it to quickly transfer files, but for music I use iPod 20G now.

I really like my sony discman, it just reeks of quality. Though, If you are worried about sound quality, you shouldn't really use the included bud earphones and buy some cans instead. This is all IMHO of course.

Go the Korean ones they own.... I have the Dioneer DCP-400 and it does everything u want for about $150..... the SRS virtual surround sound on it is awesome
Or if you want one from a reliable brand then go the Iriver IMP 550 for $289.. that is supposedly the best money can buy.

Wow, that Dioneer Player looks awesome. I never considered firmwear upgrades for discmans . And SRS on a CD discman would be cool, I had that on my microsystem and it sounded rather neat.

i have the Panasonic SLSX-428... bought it about 4 months ago for $130

its pretty good, xcept doesnt come with remote control and cant see track name, and u cant fastforward during a mp3 song (but is that with all players?)

i reckon for the $20 more + rechargeables(NiMH) is worth it..
a pana plus reliable batts is about $170 (assuming non-pana batts.)

the dioneer looks nice..
the remote doesnt look as ergonomic and easy as the sony one but its large size is a plus..
Graphics Eq and the SRS + TruBass make it worthwhile and its 1.6 cm

mine is about the same but not as thick its .3 cm difference but for $40 i would hav got the dioneer

is a interesting read..

overall value IMO
//edit: actually my sony ones only advantage is the battery life.. 105 hrs.. i can verify up to 99 hrs.. but i didnt leave it on longer..

dioneer is 22
and the iriver one is 55hrs
