I am in serious need of a poem about power or control et
Not googling "power poems" coz thats tacky.
A poem that has some sort of theme on power/control/censorship conveyed in the deeper meaning of the poem.
But it cannot be emily dickinson.

We are doing an excellent poem called "My Last Duchess" by Robert Browning.
Its about a man (a duke I think?) retelling the story of his old wife, who he killed, because he felt like he didn't hold enough power over her. You can also notice the power his old wife must have had over him. its really a good poem.

There are heaps of techniques like metaphors, alliteration, allusions...etc.

And its a great poem.

Depends what kind of power you're looking for. When i did powerplay, i was looking at these two poems as a related text; i chose the second one.

Hawk Roosting by Ted Hughes
The Unknown Citizen by W.H. Auden

They may seem a bit obscure but you can definitely relate them to power.
