Such problems can be done by vector methods, as noted above, though how internal / external division formulae would be treated is unknown. If I were setting such a question, I would word it to mandate the use of vectors so that I could avoid having to credit using the theory that ceased to be in the syllabus from the 2020 HSC onwards.

I have seen another piece of now-removed theory, the angle between two lines, being derived in an MX2 trial this year using vectors and that was worded to avoided the much simpler derivation by MX1 / trigonometry methods.
