For paper 1, i go essay first (which last me 45-50 min), then unseen text (another 40 min) and finally creative writing (around 20-30 min)

For paper 2, i do things equally..... but also depends on the question

Why do quite a few of you do essay first. That seems really illogical seeing as you've just had reading time to read the unseen texts and identify techniques in them, which you can now start answering in section 1. Instead of doing the essay after reading time, forgetting what the texts were and then having to read over them again, wasting time during the exam...

They probably memorised the essay and wanted to joint it down as soon as possible.

+1.

It's always best to do the short answers first, right after freshly reading them. You don't want to waste another 5 minutes of precious time reading over it again - if you wanna do your essay, quickly dot point a couple of things down and then do your short answers as normal.
