Hey everyone! My name is Chris.

I am a qualified Physics and Chemistry teacher and have been teaching for the past NINE YEARS. I am a current HSC marker for Physics.

I specialise in tutoring HSC Physics to small groups of capable students (maximum 6 students).

- 2015/16 HSC Course - SATURDAY 11:30AM-1:30PM - CLASS FILLED
- 2015/16 HSC Course - SATURDAY 2:30PM - 4:30PM - CLASS FILLED

- 2015/16 HSC Course - TUESDAY 6PM-8PM CLASS - 1 SPOT REMAINING

I have been asked many times if I tutor Preliminary Physics and/or Preliminary or HSC Chemistry. I do not offer these services currently as I want to focus on ONE thing and do that really, really well!

Why Choose Me?

  • I am a qualified teacher and have been teaching Physics since 2007.
  • I am a current HSC Marker, so I know exactly what YOU need to do to ensure maximum marks in your responses.
  • I have an immense amount of high quality resources which I make available to all of my students, including many resources that other tuition providers do not have access to.
  • Whilst I will never do your assessments for you, I provide feedback on draft assignments in order to help you score those extra marks.
  • My services do not finish once you finish the weekly 2 hour lesson -- I am available via email, WhatsApp and phone pretty much all the time, I spend many hours each week helping students with questions, assignments, proof-reading notes and preparation for upcoming assessment tasks, all at no further expense
  • I am not a dictator, I try to provide a supportive environment where thoughts and opinions are encouraged to be shared. If you want to reap the most benefit from my classes, the onus is on YOU to contribute
  • I actually mark your homework and give you constructive feedback for improvement -- not just give you the solutions and expect you to deconstruct the solutions / marking guidelines (often marking guidelines are very confusing!!)
  • I enjoy teaching, so I try to make learning interactive and fun (The occasional science teacher/father joke is told.. Pity laughs are encouraged..)
  • I know many little tricks to help you score those extra marks on examinations and assignments
  • Students look forward to coming to class
  • Teaching is my passion, not just a way of making extra income.

Lesson Structure:

2 hour lessons
For each lesson, a theory booklet is worked through in class, key concepts explained, past examination questions are broken down and answered in a way to ensure maximum understanding and maximum marks.
A homework booklet is given most weeks and is to be completed. Feedback is always provided when homework or examinations are given back.
Personally, I find assessment as an extremely important part of teaching/tutoring. So, I am aiming at constructing 30 minute tests to be completed each 3-4 weeks, to ensure consolidation of materials learnt.
Generally the lessons structure will be as such:

  • 0.5 Hours working through / feedback from homework problems
  • 0.5 Hours test on material learnt in last 3-4 weeks (approx. every 3-4 weeks)
  • 1.0-1.5 hours working through new material and problem solving

Recent Achievements:

  • My HSC 2014 Physics tutor students saw dramatic improvement from Year 11, including one student improving from a rank of 114th in Year 11 to a final rank of 2nd in Year 12 at Baulkham Hills High School (HSC Mark - 95) and another improving from 44th to 5th at Girraween High School (HSC Mark - 93)
  • My 2013 school physics class achieved 6 x Band 6's including a state rank of 7th (Exam Mark: 99 - Would have been outright 1st in the state if he wasn't ranked 3rd at the school) and another student who was top 40 in the state. (Not bad for a public, comprehensive school ranked in the mid-300s!)
  • 20% of My HSC 2014 school students (non-selective school) achieved a Band 6 (9% of students state wide).
  • 100% of My HSC 2015 school students (at non-selective schools) are ranked first in Physics at their school.

What?

  • Small group sessions for up to 6 students ($50 / lesson)
  • Classes for HSC 2016 have commenced
  • Classes are run on Saturdays 11:30am-1:30pm, Saturdays 2:30pm-4:30pm and Tuesdays 6:00pm-8:00pm From 2013-2015, all classes have been filled and 2015 I needed to start a waiting list
  • Lessons are tailored for high achieving students, if you are struggling with Physics you will not benefit from these classes and I would suggest 1-to-1 tuition. Contact me for rates if you are interested in 1-to-1 tuition.

Can I just ask why you don't offer tutoring for students who are not 'high-achieving', after all aren't they who tutoring is designed for (I get that you teach at high level...)?

I do offer tuition to students who are not 'high achieving', but that is in a 1-on-1 capacity, not in a group environment as more individual attention is needed for the students who do not already have a strong underlying foundation in Physics.

Due to my limited time, I rarely have more than 2 students who I tutor 1-to-1. This year I have only had a single student for 1-to-1.

That was not in the terms and conditions :)

Ok thanks for the quick reply. You sound like you can really help students achieve great results.

Was going through some physics work awhile ago and Fizzy_Cyst came across my mind for some odd reason (no homo) and thought I should bump his tutoring thread so others could experience his awesomeness. Absolutely one of the best tutors you'll be able to find!

Fizzycyst is possibly the best tutor out for Physics. He has helped me throughout the year effectively and supported my progress through Year 12. Again highly recommended if you want a state rank or high band 6.

Could not recommend a better tutor for Physics, seriously! I was near the bottom of my cohort (with a size of ~125). After the fizzycyst's guidance and support, I'm equal 2nd overall, at a top 2 school. Fizzy_cyst truly makes the subject easy to learn and more importantly, interesting! His passion for education and teaching is demonstrated by the unparalleled amount of support he provides outside of the classroom. Get in on this quickly!

Fizzy_Cyst is an 11/10, always willing to help out with notes/questions beyond that classroom free of charge! I started the year off just above my cohorts average, but finished in the top 5. Would definitely recommend Fizzy_Cyst for any student wanting that band 6 :D

Spent over 2 hours today with one of my 2014 HSC tutoring students to consolidate some material which he had uncertainties about.

Free of charge!
