i would go to the harvery norman site to find out, but that site is currently not working on my computer.

Because its a very professional piece of software. Most people that "use" Photoshop use it to resize their avatars or do basic graphic manipulation. If used properly it can do alot more.

i use msn and paint to resize avatars. easy as.

argh, i actually need it for art work. so gay.
is there any way i can get it cheaper?

Buy the academic version, as mentioned earlier.

yuo can find free photo editing software, that usually comes with digital cameras, scanners etc.

Yes, but 99% of the time it's awful.

Just save $400 over a few months. I did it to pay for schoolies, and I don't even work. If you're any good with Photoshop, try offering your services to people needing graphic design work.

Is probably your best bet, its 'supposed' to be on par with photoshop, but i say a big FU to that, but should do the trick for what you have in mind. Otherwise have a look at JASC's Paintshop Pro

art stuff for tafe.
layering and painting stuff thingo.

i kinda dont have a few months.
i need it asap, hence the thread and asking how much it is, can i get it cheaper etc.
and i dont know anyone who needs graphic design work, and considering the majority of art work i do is either morbid, dark or bodyboarding/beach stuff... i cant really think of anyone who will need it and give me money for it.

the gimp is a great open source alternative, i wouldnt say it equals photoshop, but it has a lot of similar capabilities and is alot better then jasc paintshop pro, its also free :)

yeah, i went on that gimp website thingo, but it was too confusing.
i didnt know which one to download.
