how do they detect the PET and its location?

For the location part:
some text books say they measure the time difference betweend different gammma rays

others say they measure attenuation of rays and

others say they deduce where various gamma rays cross over.

so im confused :p

thats a good point raised there mr eazy
mmmm but i think i have read from several sources that diff attenuation is used to detect PET!

nah they cant measure time differences coz gamma rays travel at the speed of light...so they measure attenutation, more attenuated = deeper inside the body, and by checking the angles they came from they can approximate the site of infection
