Do i use pen or pencil to draw graphs?
My teacher said to use pencil, but I thought we can only use pens?

HSC Papers say "Write using black or blue pen. Black pen is preferred" - there's no mention of pencils. On Science papers they specify to use pencil for diagrams, so I'd suggest using pen. If you're not confident maybe do it roughly in pencil and then go over it in pen?

I do a quick sketch in pencil and once I'm confident that the answer is correct, then I draw over it in pen to 'lock in my answer'.

Alternatively, you could practise so much that you will be sure that your first attempt is correct. Hence you can always use pen.

Yeah... I thought you weren't allowed to use any other writing tools aside from a blue or black pen in a maths exam too.

You are technically allowed (in the sense that they won't give you 0 purely for using pencil), but remember that these papers are scanned, then marked, so pencil would not come out as clearly as pen. It can also rub off/fade over a short period of time too.

Just use pen, to be on the safe side.

So I guess the markers won't be too strict on which writing tool to use, right?

Ok, pen it is. I use pen for everything, anyway.
