yeah, we were totally screwed!!!!
the questions sucked! the Ottawa Charter is meant to be the easy questions, then they put bloody social justice priciples in- what the hell is that??!!!
i think PD is the units that arent going to count for my UAI (im doing 12 units) which sux cause i spent quite a bit of time on it, and i did shit!

For Ottawa Charter -

Discussed:

-Ottawa Charter's Aim, and recognising Poverty as the greatest risk to health.
-Looking at how Social Justice addresses that risk
-The fact that CVD is high amongst those in lower socioecconomic classes, etc
-Ottawa Charter 5 in relation to Inequity.

i stuffed up the 2nd question of core 2! Like i wrote about absolutely nothing to do with characteristics of a skilled performer! my mind just went blank and i coodnt help it. There goes 12 marks. Though, there was a few dramas rite b4 the exam that unsettled me... but the markers arent gonna know that! GRRR! and pe was my fave subject!
Dont worry about it, heaps of people at our school made that same mistake so I'm guessing there will be heaps of people in the state who have done it too. I didn't like the core 2 questions at all. I felt they picked the tiniest of dot points and made us write an entire extended response on it, when really there wasnt that much to write. oh well

i so absolutely know what you mean........usually when they ask a question, especially a 15 marker then its about one of the main points in the syllabus and you can remember what the smaller points are underneath that heading and then u have lots to write about. but i agree with nicola, they totally picked small points and wanted us to write heaps. also it sorta seemed like stuff that was easy to bs about. i could be wrong but thats my general opinion

I managed about a page on characteristics of the skilled performer, it was a stretch because there's not that much but it's there at least.

i must say i agree with all of u, that test was utter crap. y did they make the questions with the gaps so far apart? and the question about thermoreg and fluid replacement worth 8 marks and they give u not even half a bloody page!
some of the MC questions were also very open, i was going through them with a mate the other day and we had different answers purely on the fact we interpreted the possible answers differently.
anyone here who did sports med? coz 15 marks on taping and bandaging? hmmm theres only like a page on it in our text.
i was lookin at 90 plus for this exam based on the year we had but no, the board had to give us this piece of poo test. ah well life goes on...

I have spoken to lots of people who stuffed up the Ottawa Charter question, so you're not alone. I saw on the news the other night, they don't actually work out the answers until they have looked at some responses, and if lots of people have made the same mistake, they will mark it accordingly, ie, you won't lose too many marks if everyone stuffed the question up.

Hey... yobbo (i don't mean that in a bad way)..

the sports med 15 marker was really good if ya think about it but youre right about taping and bandaging, it was not alot of our notes... HOWEVER... we needed (well, my teacher told me i was right - i hope she knows what she's talking about) to discuss how protective equipment is characterised (eg, helmets, goggles, nose plugs, mouthgaurds etc), talk about how it is imperative that hey are fitted properly and for the purpose (i.e mouthgaurds need to be adjusted as they differ in size from person to person and can cause more harm thatn good if they are not fitted accordingly), describe and provide examples of sports which have implemented rules and regulations in their sports that states that participants MUST wear safety equipment (e.g. boxing, or even exterior protective equipment such as rubber covers on netball posts to reduce risk of collission) and just stuff like that... then for taping and bandaging you just waffle on about how they both can be used for preventative and management purposes, what they do, how they do it and if they achieve the perpose for which they are intended... then, the last bit of the question stated that why would these things (taping, bandaging and protective equipment) be use to ensure and athlete's WELLBEING... so you have to talk about social well-being (how they can socialise without fear of injury), psychological well-being, physical well-being (obviously), economic well-being (taping/bandaging are cost-effective as opposed to surgery etc) and mental/emotional well-being!! I hope that in some way you integrated all this into your answer and you can now rest easy!! Good luck everyone and i hope you get the results you all are hoping for... Keep smiling and good luck with the rest of your exams!!

pe was a JOKE

i cant believe that they think theyare testing our knowledge when they ask us to writeabout either 1 point or else 1 SUBPOINT of the syllabus for each core/option.
what a joke.

i thought ottawa was good, but just to that bloke who said it recognises poverty as biggestthreat, thats the jakarta dec....

f.a.p was ridiculous, those questions would have been ok for 4 or 6 marks...

anyways no point dwelling i gues

Yeppppp well at least the majority of us are all in agreement that the test was stupid!! It's like the people who wrote it didn't know the course.. it was random shit worth 15 marks and a paragraph in the text book! Shitted me that I spent a year of studying PDH and doing well to have to make up stuff in the final exam!!!!

i only realised that we had to relate CVD to social justice principles aswell, 5 mins before we finished so i had to queeze shit about equity and access in spaces that didn't have writing about the fricken ottowa charter on it .

i hate how they combined a whole terms worth of work into 2 questions ! its beyond all logic to think that one could fit in as much as they wanted you to in that small amount of space for 15 marks which probably took your class 15 mins to do...........................shitty pe test, you betrayed me

i liked the exam. but i agree it hardly tested 20% of the course. but it sure is going to separate the ones who know their stuff from the ones who dont. and thats the purpose of the hsc.

mmm...

yes well i was very dissapointed with the exam. I expected the unexpected but that was just beyond sillyness. Seriously, how the hell can you expect to write 12 marks on bloody skilled performers, 8 marks on fluid intake/ body temp. The marking scheme was so GAY for the exam.

The markers are gonna be screwed when marking the exam because everyone had a different interpretation to the questions being asked.
Im annoyed coz i thought the test didnt really put the good content in, where you can actually write stuff in the syllabus, that we had more than a paragraph of information in the text book on. What a WASTE.
The options were ok, but even they were rediculous.

PE was like my ace subject, and i thought that was the most stupid exam i've ever this year. I mean some people worked sooo hard to memorsie all the syllabus and stuff, and it was like the BOS just threw it back in our face with thoses questions.

Maybe the markers will be a bit lenient, considering so many people thought it was gay, and probably wrote irrelevant stuff. I reckon even the people who knew their stuff well, struggled a little.
oh well, we will see what happens when the marks role in, although they arent really a true indication of how we really went anyway, so we will never know....lol... Good on everyone who sat the PE exam!!! GO US :)

isnt that the fault of every pe exam......too much content and only three hours to put it into a test so those who focus on certain areas can get lucky sometimes and those who try extremely hard and learn everything are not truely given just reward
