There are 2 recent ones that i know of, Trine and Aztaka.

I have Trine, its ok, but probably will get boring.
Aztaka looks good. Kinda reminds me of the Castlevania platformers, just not as good.

What are some good sidescrollers for PC?

I played Trine, it was awesome! I got up to the last level and then gave up. Had a great time though.

There is an inventory. You pick up hidden items around the place and then you can switch them between the inventory of each character to get the most out of the bonuses.

There are some different weapons too from upgrades. The theif gets a flaming arrow and the warrior gets this kick ass hammer.

Give Braid a go. Also, try Shadow Complex. It's awesome, with lots of gameplay elements similar to Metroid and Castlevania (in that you explore lots of areas and gain a massive amount of powerups).
