Paradise Lost - Worth the effort? (1 Viewer)

Yes, well i am considering reading this somewhat lengthy and slow-going book. Anyone who has read it (or attempted and succeeded in reading a substantial amount of it): is it worth it? I have read the first 500 lines or so, but it seems really hefty...

There are references to it in Frankenstein, but not much of significance.

Totally worth a read just to be able to say you've read Paradise Lost. It is very heavy going though. It's not supposed to be easy :p

It's on my post-hsc reading list; I'm looking forward to it. I've heard it's quite intense, but the concept is so intriguing.

if you're into epic poetry, go right ahead.

once you get used to the language it's quite an enjoyable read.

Yeah, the language is a bit alienating. Personally, I went from Alexander Pope to Milton and I found Milton to be a bit disappointing ("where's the rhyme, wtf?").

But, yeah, I aspire to read Paradise Lost. When I get the time I'm going to devote myself to read the entirety of it.

I look forward to it.
