It's a new exam committee this year, and over the last 5 years they've been doing all they could to stop prepared essays, I honestly think they're not going to be lenient on us and instead try to challenge us as much as possible.

I'm guessing based on that premise that:

Paper One:

Comprehension: Based on technology and online relationships - That's the era we're moving in, last years preliminary exams had it completely based on online and online security. Additionally, it's something they've never touched upon and what greater time to do it than with all this focus on social media and social presence online. I've also seen some independent texts with complete paper ones being based on online relationships.

Creative piece: They can be complete douche bags here and request that we write in the format of a blog or a featured article. Everyone is getting online, and if they're going to focus on technology they will continue to do so by specifying an online written format (blog/feature article). Not to mention this hasn't occurred for some time and it stops a majority of memorised creative pieces.

Essay: Hopefully they will keep this as an essay, and honestly they've exhausted all themes in belonging. We're the last year of belonging, and a way to finish it off would be with the notion of global communities. Global communities in themselves don't necessarily mean world wide, but instead encompass a whole community within a specific region (Eg, As You Like It: The Court is one, The Forest of Arden is another form). Hopefully they will not ask us to write anything other than an essay, since the never-before asked theme should be challenging enough.

Paper Two:

Module A: I think a straightforward essay with a twisted question similar to that of the CSSA. Nothing too killer.

Module B: They will specify EITHER a specific poem/part of a poem, or 3 poems to be used. They realise many people are learning only 2/3 poems good, so chances are they will ask you to use 3 poems to stop many people from walking in with a prepared argument. They want everyone to learn all the prescribed poems, and what better way to do so then by setting a precedent for the years to come (remember, new committee).

Module C: This question rarely changes in all honesty, it's a hard question to modify - I'm probably leaning towards 2 additional texts which I sincerely hope not, or an unseen quote that must be included within the essay.

Overall, I think the band 6 cut off may slightly drop this year, possibly by 3/4 marks (hopefully), but it will be a much more challenging exam from my guesses.

Just to clear up, belonging goes for one more year (or two) as far as I know (otherwise we wouldn't be studying it right now :p)

I actually think it's going to the technology based too. Hoping it's not a feature article or blog of section 2 though.

Btw we're not the last year of belonging, 2014 will be.

I thought it's only for 4 years? ...

They did it in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 - Is it 6 years now?
