I have 6 Oral Exams in 5 weeks and want to know if anyone have any tips for them.

I am generally not a strong speaker, but i know my topics inside-out

How on earth do you have six with your subjects? So basically practice, make sure to speak at a good pace, with pause and with eye contact.

Btw, state ranks in two subjects is very ambitious! You would probably get a 99+ if you did that!

  • Know your content off by heart to avoid constant reading of your notes/palm cards hence lessening eye contact.

  • Practise and try to time yourself, stay within the time limit. I have learnt from this during my English speech, it was way too long. Still got one of the top yearly reports though. Which is very surprising. :)

  • Speak in front of your friends and get their honest feedback or if you are very ambitious, go to a public place with huge amounts of humans and practise there.

lol but you have this year, i have next :p

Everyone who is aiming for a ATAR of 90+ should aim for a state rank in a subject
Very ambitious of you, I like that in a human. Go and study!

on topic: I used to be the same, know the content like the back of my hand (ignore the cliche) but never have the confidence to get up and speak it. What i found is just thinking about the context of the situation helps, you are going to do a speech, but so is everyone else. Make the front of the room a comfortable place.

off topic: To what 'rank' does state rankings stop ie. what are state rankings?

You seem to be very confident, I don't think I can even get an 85 for English to get all rounders. I shall leave you on your way to glory, good luck with your state ranking and your oral examinations.

haha you will be a all rounder your pro

I just like being overly confident, it helps in a way and makes you feel like you do not have any barriers,

but maybe that is why i did so bad in my maths exam, however no one passed soo who knows

Still doubtful of a band 6 in English at this stage. Our English cohort is scary.
