it's aimed at first years, being *orientation* week and all
but everyone else still has to join societies and stuff again so lots of people go after first year
plus all the free stuff and night events are not necessarily just targeted at first years

Of course not.

It's the best way to join clubs and socs, some people have "compulsory" orientations, even after 1st year, you get free stuff, you can get your access card.

My favourite thing to do at O week is to change my timetable to make it more convenient, BEFORE the lecturers and tutors tell us that no changes are allowed. Fuck them, if there's space in the class, then why can't I be in it?

I'll go again for the freebies, and hopefully to see another lecture from one of those socialist groups. last time they had Mamdouh Habib speaking, which was pretty cool.

do we needa bring anything to o week in particular? other than ourselves and cash? oh and is there a limit to how many clubs/societies u can join?
Bring anything - not really, just bring money. Wearing sunscreen would be a good idea, though. And if you're going to one of the SWOT lectures you might want to bring pen and paper as well, I guess.

Limit - nope. If you have an Access card you can join as many as you want.

it depends on the club, most do have some sort of joining fee - usually $2-$5
some are free, and some will give you merchandise when you pay your joining fee

yeah I'm looking forward to o-week now for these so called 'freebies', getting an access card, to check out any potential clubs/socs I may want to join and I guess meeting some of the people in my course...I was wondering though, do we get student diaries during o-week or when school officially starts?

hahah when *school* starts?

as far as i know i think when u get an access card u get a token, and then with that token you can go get a diary and show bag

not completely sure about the diaries though cause they've been just giving them out at uni lately at enrollment and around the library, trying to promote the access card and all, so they might just be free for first years or something

and to the poster above - no your diary has nothing to do with your timetable.... the diary is printed by the union, the timetable is university related
