Haven't been on these forums for ages...Dragons lost to Souths and Manly :spam:

We better have an improvement in performance round 1 against the Dogs otherwise it will be real disappointing..atleast we field a more competent squad.

i love the knights
they only lost coz danny wasnt playing. i heard johns played well. but im guessing he's gonna get hurt again. 3 serious injuries in the last 3 seasons isnt good statistics.

4. Willie Tonga
5. Matt Utai

15. Chris Armit
16. Ben Czislowski
17. Nate Myles

Thats a very strong side that is missing Mason, Harris and Maitua, It should be a ripper of a game

I dont think fridays game will be any good, bulldogs will slaughter st George - they've got to many top class players out.

As for sharks

1. David Peachey
2. David Simmons
3. Nigel Vagana
4. Ryan McGoldrick
5. Luke Covell
6. Adam Dykes
7. Brett Kimmorley (c)
8. Hutch Maiava
9. Matt Hilder
10. Danny Nutley
11. Andrew Lomu
12. Phil Bailey
13. Paul Gallen

14. Keith Galloway
15. Sam Isemonger
16. Greg Bird
17. Michael Sullivan

Strong side, 3rd heaviest pack in the comp. Interesting that Paul Mellor was left out, but thats what depth will do.

Also of interest, the local newspaper had like 3 pages dedicted to the sharks, thats the first time Ive seen that - expectations are high from the shire and from the players to -> Premiership 2005

Yeah mate I agree, should be a great game. Both sides missing a few players but fuck me it's the 1st game of the season can't wait.

Here is the Saints lineup for all 3 grades... very young PL side and quite a few missing through injury (surprise surprise) but one thing you will learn is never right off the Saints. Can't wait for this game!

1. Ben HORNBY (c)
2. Colin BEST
3. Ben CREAGH (Gasnier out, Torrens out, Kelly out)
4. Matt COOPER
5. Reece SIMMONDS (Naiqama out)
6. Aaron GORRELL (Don't ask me why! But Barrett Out, Holdsworth out)
7. Mathew HEAD (Question on his fitness)
8. Luke BAILEY
9. Michael ENNIS (Question on his fitness)
10. Justin POORE (Ryles out)
11. Dean YOUNG
12. Lance THOMPSON
13. Shaun TIMMINS
14. Ashton SIMS
15. Bryan NORRIE
16. Willie MANU
17. Corey PAYNE

Alot of players missing but still a fairly competitive squad. Yes we have som injuries but we always do so there is really no excuses. Obviously will be a challenge against the reigning premiers who have a strong looking squad, but I think Saints are up to the challenge. BRING ON ROUND 1!!!

1. Brett MORRIS
2. Nick YOUNGQUEST
3. Daryl MILLARD
4. Willie TUPOU
5. Josh MORRIS
6. Luke DALZIEL-DON
7. Josh LEWIS
8. Jamie DUNNING
9. Wade HUMPHREYS
10. Corey MAHER
11. Lee TE MAARI
12. Edwin ASOTASI
13. Ryan POWELL (c)
14. Dan HUNT
15. Tom HABERECHT
16. Aaron WHEATLEY
17. Laurie BAMBLETT

1. Jason NIGHTINGALE
2. Tom HEWITT
3. Beau RYAN
4. James TROTTER
5. Peter REEVES
6. Brad DAVIDSON
7. Jamie KEITH (c)
8. Charlie LEAENO
9. George NDAIRA
10. Danny WICKS
11. James JIMENEZ
12. Jhi TANNER
13. Brian WEST
14. Peter WAKLEY
15. Puna RASAUBALE
16. Dean JAMIESON
17. Lewis McPHAIL

Not a bad looking side. Will be competitive, but I don't think successful.

Mellor is injured isn't he buddy?

Yeah agreed man. Well I'll take Hornby over Patten any day of the week. And Coops is the best defensive centre in the game, so will handle Lolesi. Creagh will be interesting to see how he defends in the centres after bulking up for a move to the 2nd row. A former winger, a damn good/strong defender but can be caught out of position, definitely our best option though, he's needed there to stop Tonga and SBW when he drifts wide. I don't like our wings much. Best and Simmonds are both solid I guess, but nothing special. My 1st choice winger would be Wes Naiqama then Youngquest or Greenshields, then Best, then Simmonds. But in saying that El Masri is a very solid winger but we should be able to contain him and Utai is bloody good but in doubt with injury so hopefully won't be 100%.

Like I've said, on paper I'd probably go the Dogs by 30. But trust me, as a Saints fan, I know better than anyone that games aren't won on paper! IMO will be a bloody competitive match that could go either way.

ohwhenthesaints,
The Dragons will get better in later rounds when they get Ryles, Gasnier and Barrett back. But, in saying that, the Dragons seem to go better without their high profile players.
I cannot see the Dragons beating the Dogs on Friday.

I am having trouble picking between the Tigers and Eels.
Plus, the Knights have a horrible injury toll already and the season hasn't even begun!!! So, I reckon I should take the Storm to beat them in the first round??? (I can't believe I am going against my team) What do you guys think?
