I want to do B Science/B Arts and specialise in Physics, or do a B Science in Physics, but I'm not sure whether or not I should DO Physics.

I thoroughly enjoy physics, but at school I usually get band 5's, and at worst high band 4's, so I'm wondering if I should reconsider for my next favourite subjects.

So I suppose that's my question: should I base my preferences on the literal meaning of a preference or the marks I'm getting?

Often in Science, you don't have to choose your major until, at the very latest, the end of the second year, although you must choose subjects in 1st and 2nd year that allow you to follow that major. For example, I know at Melbourne University that if you enjoy physics then you could also major in one of many engineering subfields for a bachelor of science, but all of them have the same first year subjects. You could do just first year engineering, maths and physics, and then choose subjects you think you will enjoy the most for second year. Leaving your options open for one of many majors. Nothing is locked in for a while.

Also, don't pick what subject you do best at, pick what you enjoy the most. As long as you are moderately good at it, if you have enough motivation, it will be much better to do well at Physics then a subject that you find easy but not really interesting at High School

Thanks Ben, that's the sort of way I thought when I selected subjects in year 10. Besides, I have more than one subject in science, so I guess I'll be fine :D

hsc physics isn't exactly a good indicator for uni physics..

So I've heard, as in it being watered down in mathematics, etc. I'm fairly decent at maths anyway, but apparently an understanding of ext2 would help :(
