The entire syllabus is changing. Journeys are out
Belonging is in

There are heaps of other changes aswell eg. Hamlet/Rosencrantz & Guildenstern is gone its now become Richard III & Searching for Richard (or something like that) frontline is gone it is now been replaced by Wag the Dog. Hamlet is going in critical study of texts. and heaps of other changes too.

Duh.. you're early. It's belonging. I'm currently doing it. It's alright but it's crap with no refrences on the internet and no past notes to help.
Well, that's dear of you. You're like in year 10 arent you?, why then, are you starting "Belonging"? My schools still doing Journeys. that's so odd.

I reckon it's better. The HSC markers would be a bit more enthusiastic with something new. We can be more original in our essays.

I'm pretty sure the change won't have too much of an effect on us.
Could actually benefit us - as markers generally would mark us easier (because it's the first time a cohort is sitting it).

For a great list of possible related texts on the subject of Belonging see www.insidebreak.org.au
the list has been suggested by the staff of 3 public libraries. Always check with your teacher about the suitability of your choices from this list.

Re: New english syllabus for 2009 hsc??

i reckon it's awesome that we're the first batch to experience "belonging"!! i could imagine many kids that have elder siblings who would just inherit their notes and such, but this year we all have to think for ourselves; which should separate the sheep from the goats [unless external forces intervene... tutors....]. but i looked in the library during a free and there's still HEAPS of study guides on bladerunner, frankenstein, hamlet, et al.... although they won't directly relate to the syllabus, they're still good resources.

oh & i think the markers will be happy for a breath of fresh air, too & according to my teacher: "they will be a little more generous with marking". yay!

Meh. I don't think Belonging would be harder than Journeys or Change w/e. It'll just be different and fresh.
