Is it possible to do a comm/arts degree but just do all commerce subjects in 1st semester?

My understanding is that you don't need to follow their recommended structure at all as long as you meet prerequisites.

Bear in mind they have the structure for a reason and not all subjects will be offered in both semesters

Where can I find the prerequisites? Are the prerequisites the core subjects?

They'll be noted in the handbook.

Considering you're doing it first semester then you'll probably want to (don't have to) take the 4 core commerce subjects.

A prerequisite is simply a course that needs to be done before doing another course. They don't have to be cores. Electives can have electives as prerequisites, which in turn could have a core as a prerequisite, which that could then have an elective as a prerequisite!

UNSW has improved their system in the last few years so now if you don't meet the course's requirements including prerequisites, you won't be able to enrol into it. You can find information regarding any prerequisites for a course in the handbook for the course that you want to do.
