Hi all,

I am looking to buy a violin.

I was wondering if anyone could make a recommendation on where to buy music equipment?

Thanks for that. What about "AllansMusic" located at 228 Pitt st Sydney?

They have nice music equipment on display but i'm not sure if their prices are at rip-off or reasonable.

All australian music stores will mark up on music equipment.

eBay or shipping from the states is the most cost effective if you are looking for quality stuff at a decent price.

Yeah, I got most of my piano stuff from Allans.

i always thought allans was ridiculously overpriced even though they constantly have some sort of 'sale' on

The violinery in linfield (google it).

Dickson's music (chatswood) and Allan's (City) have a small range too.

I revisited Allansmusic and they had student violins (full size) at reasonable prices, $179 being the cheapest (which had the violin + bow + case and something).

I also went to Violinery as suggested by goony and their violins were way too expensive. The cheapest "student" package was at $595.

Yes but that equals no warranty.

billy hyde/allans music/go to sydney conservatorium of music, look at their noticeboards for a second hand one.
