what's everyone doing for their compositions, and for what topics? i'm trying to pull together a waltz for instro+repertoire, but all my research is with my teacher for the holidays and i'm not a super experienced composer ://

are you trying to compose during the holidays? how much have you done so far? do you have any tips/hints?

I finished the HSC last year, and I think the best tip I could give you for composition is to listen to as much music as you can in the style you want to compose in. If possible, read as much of the sheet music of those pieces as you can as well. You might not consciously know exactly how to compose a certain section, but if you listen to enough examples you'll subconsciously imitate the style naturally.
