In NSW, the University of New England. Put a few thousand young people in a small town with nothing better to do than party, and what do you think will happen? Colleges in particular are really well supported there, with local pubs providing over $30,000 to them in sponsorship money annually.

Apparently it's the uni with the least asians, whichever one that may be.

The fact that thousands of young adults are out of their parents watchful eye for the first time in their lives, and surrounded by grog with nothing better to do than drink it, well that wouldnt have anything to do with it, would it?

I love that everyone attributes Armidale and Bathurst as 'Party Towns' when these towns have been indentified as some of the worst in the state when it comes to underage drinking, bringe drinking, alcohol related injuries, violence and deaths. Just because everyone get trashed from Tuesday thru to Sunday doesn't mean they are the most sociable. These towns have serious problems when it comes to young people and alcohol, that are still largely ignored.

Sydney. Best clubs and socs program, because the union throws so much money at them. That means more free booze and more chances to meet people.

not being biased at all, find me another tertiary institution that has this

*over 150 clubs and societies - each with $5000 budget to put on their own events

*O-week with FREE dodgem cars

*3 gyms, 5 ovals, several olympic sized pools, their own rock climbing wall

* over 35 food outlets

*2 Union bars, several college bars, and heaps of local pubs in every corner of the surrounds.

* at least 2 buildings 3 storey buildings completely devoted to student life

* their own radio station, put on by students

* 2 uni-wide student newspapers, and several student journals

*their own theatre, which students can write/direct/perform their own plays/musicals

at Sydney Uni, we have this and HEAPS HEAPS MORE
In engineering alone, we have free all-you-can-eat corporate sponsored BBQs every week! we have a harbour cruise, an engineering ball, 4 pub crawls per year, our own engineering comedy stage production - last year titled "Tequila mockingbird" , engineering first year camp and mentoring program, overseas development program with Engineers without borders......the list goes on!
Vegetarian society has the best $4 meals ever!

Exactly. I challenge anyone from any other uni to match this. Sydney wins.

I wouldn't know, but it seems every point about USYD is the pouring of $$$$ into something or other. I guess it depends on what you consider 'social', but can you compete with the idea of country 'party unis'?
