how is the motor effect involved with the functioning of the galvanometer and the loudspeaker??

i am stuck!!

here's my 2 cents:

the galvanometer:
the galvanometer consists of a coil wrapped around a soft iron core, with an attached needle with recoil spring, radial magnets and a reading meter.

when current passes through the coil, it becomes a current carrying conductor, and undergoes the motor effect since it is under the influence of a radial magnetic field (from the magnets). the force applied to the coil from the motor effect causes the coil to rotate, and therefore, causes the needle to rotate/move as well, to indicate a reading on the meter. the recoil spring undergoes increased tension as the needle moves. the meter can therefore be calibrated for accurate readings.

When there is no current passing through the coil, the needle will return back to "0" because of the release of elastic potential energy from the recoil spring. the radial magnetic field is to provide a constant maximum torque, again, for accurate readings on the meter.

the loudspeaker consists of a cone, attached to a coil-wound tube. the tube is inserted between two very strong circular magnets. the ends of the coil is then connected to the circuit.

when current passes through the coils, as is under the influence of a magnetic field, the motor effect applies. this forces the coils - the current carrying conductor - to oscillate, therefore the cone oscillates. the effect of sound is produced when there is an applied variable voltage, which ultimately changes the direction and magnitude of the force acting on the coils, which causes the coils to vibrate. this causes the cone to vibrate, creating rarefractions and compressions in the air, which produce sound.

The motor effect applies to both loudspeakers and galvanometers because the interaction of the magnetic fields (permanent and induced) causes movement which is the essence of the motor effect. (remember that motor sort of implies movement)
