Hey everyone,

The question asks:

If 42.7g of CO reacts completely at 25 degrees celsius and a pressure of 1atm, calculate the volume of N2 gas released.

I'm not sure whether its a typo, but CO is a gas, shouldn't it be 42.7L instead?

This my solution:

1) found how many moles there were in CO using n=m/MM
2) I then found how many litres of CO was involved n=V/Vm
3) The molar ration or the coming gas ratio was 1:1 therefore same amount of CO and N2=37.7L

I think I did something wrong, but I can't point it out.

Any suggestions and help will be really helpful!

oh crap sorry, CO reacts completely with nitric oxide, NO

What do the answers say? Your answer seems right. Except, it should be 37.8L not .7
You don't round off you answer until the very end.

I don't have solutions as of yet, but don't you have to use the n=v/vm formula for gases? Is this question a special case which allows us to use n=m/MM?

There wasn't a typo in the question, it is 42.7g not 42.7L. The only way to find the moles of CO is to use n=m/MM.
