what is hardcore anyway.

i sometimes listen to rave music, under the genre of happy hardcore and this seems to be completely differnt
yeah, that's HHC is hardcore techno, i don't think these bands are techno, as in techno, you have DJs. and i think hardcore is just a more faster/extreme form of anything, including porn.

OK listen, putting bands in genres often leads to errors in perception. I mean Geoff Rickley from Thursday ( ive always been a great fan of their music, intellectual and all) has always hated the "emo" term people constantly applied to his band, which infact sing about many soical issues like being gay etc.
"Emo" the term has ruined anything from punk to metal. I mean as Omar from the Mars Volta expressed, the term emo is ridiculous. I mean all music is emotional, if u have worked in the studio for months and poured all your life into the music how can it not be emotional. I mean fuck it pisses me off. Did we call the beatles emo!!! its just a term that peopel who dont know all that much about music and its history use. I wear tight jeans suddenly im emo, my mate has side swept fringe ..his emo.. i mean geese people have skrewed music with this emo shit. I blame all the idiots who are in it for the image...they have done this to us. These people have ruined music.
Hardcore is unreal, all those bands are sick, yeah lets just call them harcore. Persoanlly i think terming punk and harcore is fine until idiots start using this emo term. I certainly assure you that these bands feel the same way as i do about the the term "emo" which we can certainly say is synonymous with idiot! But yeah i like all those bands hey, but then again im into so much. Thanks for reading!

Back to the thred though, earlier harcore like Refused and At The Drive-In was my favourite, especially as mentioned the shape of punk to come and relationship of command. Haha remeber the original hardcore band Black Flag, and Henry Rollins who fronted them first, looking forward to his talk at BDO.

well said. i hate the term too so over used if you said the word emo a few years ago most people unless associated with the style of music wouldnt of known what you ment, yet now the term gets thrown around by people who dont have the slightest understanding of it.
