hey guys, can u help me estimate these?

I'm ranked 18/27 in my physic class, my mark is 78%. My school rank is about 130s.

Assume i got the external exam mark of 86, and most of my class mate are in the 80s.

What do you think my moderated assessment will be?

This is almost impossible to call - especially as you are two thirds into your cohort. Id probs guess low 80's but that is a massive guess- I've got no real idea sorry

I would say around 78-80 unless you go to one of those good physics schools that get an unusually high proportion of Band 6s in Physics.

That's quite good for 27 students at a rank 130s school.

Maybe 80-82, in that case.
Oh. What about for 4U maths? If you are in the top 40% at school and got band 6 for external exam and the rest are band 5s. Will the moderated assessment of the top 40s be band 6 too?

Being in a school ranked similarly, I'm not liking your odds.

this stuff is almost impossible to call unless your school is top 15 with pretty consistent marks, just wait it out till marks are released

This is sort of true. My school (rank ~35 or so) receives highly varying marks in science each year.

These two pretty much - it is extremely difficult to call, but at a real guess I would say high 70's - low 80's is fair. However, it can really vary significantly.

+1. I also think you might be underestimating the marking standards used in the HSC.
