An interesting thing that popped into my inbox this afternoon:
Dear Student
Minimum Rate of Progress
From 2006 all Bachelor Degree candidates are required to maintain a
satisfactory rate of progress during their period of candidature. A
candidate's minimum rate of progress is considered to be
unsatisfactory
at the end of an academic year, if having attempted at least 36 credit
points after 1 January 2006, the overall grade point average (GPA)
attained is less than 1.00 and in the year under consideration the GPA
is less than 1.00. A student who does not meet minimum rate of
progress
requirements from the end of 2007 and any year thereafter, will be
excluded from further enrolment in any Bachelor Degree program.
A student who is excluded for failing to maintain a satisfactory
minimum rate of progress may appeal to the Academic Appeals Committee
for permission to continue their program.
If you have any queries regarding your academic progress or minimum
rate of progress, you should consult an academic adviser in the
Division of Registration of your program of study.
