I agree, neafoo. The only reason Dragonforce are so hated by so many people is because they're so popular.. And the reason they're so popular is because they're actually genuinely amazingly talented! Even non-metalheads can get into it just watching the videos. And if you've seen them perform, they're even more likeable.
Yeah they're funny bastards. Good stage show.

so i find myself slowly getting into more and more metal. i think its a good thing... i guess its just the natural progression from hardcore to metal core and now im really liking all the metal bands my friends have suggested to me

so if i like bands like
ill nino
nile
in flames
children of bodom
caliban
cradle of filth

etc etc
who else might i be into
im aware some of those might be considered shitty metal bands so tell me some good ones and get me headed down the right path
Judging from your list I suggest:

At The Gates
Kalmah
Behemoth
Chthonic
Dimmu Borgir
Enslavement of Beauty
Insomnium
Dark Tranquility

Most of those bands are on the Melodic side of things.

Definitely! If you try any of these bands Atticus, Kalmah should be first on the list.

The Black Dahlia Murder - Unhallowed
At The Gates - Slaughter Of The Soul
Shadows Fall - The art Of Balance.

That is all. Most other things i like have been mentioned.

*high-fives*

If anyone likes Death, they should really check out Cynic, if they haven't already. Paul Masvidal and Sean Reinert, who both played on Human, were members of Cynic. They have some fucking top notch jazz-influenced death metal, emphasis on the jazz.

Sweet. I might check it out, but it'll probably be an 18+ show with my luck.

Try Porcupine Tree, they're prog rock with metal influences. In Absentia is one of the best albums ever.

A few years? I wouldn't be surprised if they didnt come back for 10 years! How often do we get european death metal bands touring? NEVER! Amon Amarth are only coming so that they've toured the whole world..

How come you can't make it anyways? I'd quit my job to make it to this. Any idea who's supporting? or haven't they said yet?

I'm gonna pop a fucking boner if they play Amon Amarth with the viking battle on stage again, but i doubt they will. Like in this video
