Need a Mentor? Look no further -- apply within!!

Hi all,

I am offering up my services as an English Extension II Mentor for those of you who need it. I'm an 06er, and my "mentors" were my teacher and the other two students in my EE2 cohort. I submitted a short story, but I spent a substantial amount of time working on a critique. Therefore, I'm flexible. I also aim to please. I tutor in other elements of English (see sig for details) but there will be no fee for EE2 mentees.

I think the most appropriate form of communication would be online, with a few face-to-face meet ups along the way, typically as the due date looms closer and closer. Alternatively, weekly meetings can be arranged if you live near me - without a car and limited cash this could be difficult if you live anywhere other than the Newcastle / Central Coast region.

PM me for more details and I'll get back to you - exchange email, MySpace, etc, and see how we go!!

Me too! Except I'm a bit wary of the whole over-the-internet thing..I'd prefer one on one. But I don't know whether any of you live near me...I'm in the hills district. If there's a mentor who's interested, PM me!

Hey, I did english extension two last year choosing the medium poetry. I got 50/50 for my major work. I've also been shortlisted for the Youngwriters Showcase 06. I'm so happy to help any students doing ee2 but espeically if you are doing poetry. I'm in the north shore/hornsby region. :)

Bored6 and Dreamer7 I've pm'd you about mentoring. I've always planned to mentor if i got good marks because I LOVED eng ext 2.

If you need to a mentor, someone to give you advice and outside opinions, then pm me. If your not too sure about how good I would be then maybe you can read my old eng ext 2 posts in past threads and that may give you some idea.

xoxo

Slightly off topic, any potential mentors (or anyone else for that matter) should feel welcome to contribute to the assessment stickies in this forum. :)

advice to those looking for a mentor:

Feel free to talk to them first and get a feel for how they communicate, whether they can "give" anything other than pure editing skill. No-one's holding a gun to your head and saying "send me a copy of your MW and a signed copyright to let me do whatever I want with it" ;)

(if they do, let me know and I'll kick their butt :D)

I'm based in Bondi, but would very much like to take some of you up on your offers of help.

I'm doing a radio drama that's focusing on social satire/sci-fi...Anyone have any interest in any of these areas? Recroding facilities? Comments? Things I could listen to? Offers to be a mentor?

I won't nag or anything, but if your not all filled up (and don't require any money), I'd sure appreciate a mentor.

Thanks mate. Unfortunately I live nowhere near newcastle/have the means to pay you (after reading your sig). Also, read your posts in the gaming forum, good to see a fellow lucasarts/adventure gaming appreciator lol.

Anyway I have written the sort of very first draft of my script, but its in this script-writing program called "celtx", so it may take me a bit of time to figure out how to get that to copy properly into word to be sent, and also there are afew slight changes I want to make. So in afew days if you are still willing, id be happy to take you up on the offer of help :)

I'd just like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that this is a mentoring thread.

I define Mentoring as guidance provided free of charge. If you wish to advertise for tuition services (a paid service) then please post in the tutoring forum.

Hey past and present ext2er's ,

just thought I'd throw this out there as I am rather bored at the moment. I'm a past ext2er, I did a short story last yr and recieved rather good marks for it hence I am offereing to mentor/edit some stories or essays if anyone needs it. I specialise in 18th and 19th century literature so I can help more indepthly with that, but I can also edit virtually anything and provide some constructive criticism/praise!

If you're interested just PM, reply to this post and I'll get back to you!
Happy english extension-ing!
