D. B helps reduce a fair bit as it spreads the heat, and removes it to a degree

Yeah, D looks right. A and B help because air acts as an excellent insulator for friction heat. C is pretty much critical, but D isn't really important in reducing the HEAT effect. It's more useful for reducing G-forces.
