I have a question about the mathematics 2 unit course.
If you do 4 unit maths, they consider that you would have gotten a band 6 in mathematics as you don't actually sit the final exam. But 4u maths students still do mathematics assessment tasks during the year so they'd still get ranked with the mathematics cohort, is that how it works.
But in the exam, if they don't sit the mathematics test, does everyone elses' marks/ rankings get shifted if they do mathematics, how does it work

If you do 4u, completely disregard the 2u course and they should scrap you off the 2u rankings.

No. It's just like you were never in the course at all. You don't get included in the ranks, you don't do the assessment tasks and you don't get any final mark.

All you have to do with 2U is attend the classes because there is some 2U stuff that is required to do 4U.

Your school might only be getting you to do 2U assessment tasks as a 'safety net' in case you choose to drop 4U. The 2U test is held at the same time as the 4U test so it's literally impossible to do both. If you're enrolled in 4U, 2U doesn't come up on your BOS subject list. I'd say just make sure you know the fundamentals in 2U and then you can pretty much disregard the 2U course.
