k so i need a good printer 4 my mac laptop. ive been looking around but hav no idea which 1 2 go 4.

firstly, can some1 tell me the difference between a 'multifunction' and an 'all-in-one' printer?

im thinkin i might as well get one with a scanner/copier coz ive been spending a fair bit at libraries etc photocopying ... not sure which one suits me - but this is what i need:

- a COLOUR printer
- im thinkin laser printer coz those r like the newest type out yea?? (like afta inkjet etc)
- dont need it to take photo quality pictures - but decent image quality coz im currently studying graphic design
- scanner/copier as mentioned

yea i think thats bout it ... im not 100% sure of the price range just yet, but for now lets say under $500

cheers

i'd say it's pretty hard to get a colour laser < $500

But quality brands I've used so far are:
Brother and Lexmark

Check out store websites for specials
www.ht.com.au
www.officeworks.com.au
www.harveynorman.com.au

they often have good specials on MultiFunctional / All-in-ones

the difference between MF's and All in ones:
depends on the brand.
ppl brand them differently.

yea i checked it out, looks like ur rite - under 500 for a colour laser is gonna be tough.

i know that laser printers r like the best out, but do inkjets still have good quality? coz ive been thinkin mayb a colour inkjet multifunction would be the best bet - coz it like cuts the cost down heaps!! jus wanna make sure that an inkjet printout is still gonna look good!

oh yea, another thing .... i dont wanna be paying more for LCD screens and direct printing from memory cards etc. when i wont be using it for photos.

But anyway, lasers, especially colour lasers are expensive - I mean, look at coloured photocopy prices. The difference between laser and inkjet is that inkjet stays wet and tends to smudge/run if anything watery is used on it - eg. highlighting. At least, that would be the case with the canon ones >.<. Inkjet quality otherwise is still fairly good though. But laser's still shinier =P However, if you were to get an inkjet multifunction, then well it'd be pretty cheap.
