"Mum, Dad, I got an asterix. That means an ATAR of less than 30"

*Wait one week and let your parents absolutely lose their shit*

"Mum, Dad, I was just fucking with you. I actually got an ATAR of 71.45"

*Your parents will embrace you, hug you and tell you that they are so proud*

Lie so much you believe you actually got the mark you lied about. Works for my grandparents. Apparently I got 98 and 2nd in the country.

How about you think about it after you actually get below 90?

What if you get 89.95?

If they are going to literally kill you then you are perfectly justified in lying to them. If they're going to figuratively kill you then I think you just have to man up.

I think the bigger issue is that you're more disappointed in what your parents think of you and not your lack of performance. Who cares what your parents think man, sounds like they have an unhealthy hold over you.
