You can create PDFs from any printing dialogue in any application in OS X. Anything you can print, you can save as a PDF.
Awesome. Thanks.

I found out Keynote is compatible with MS Powerpoint, as well as older versions. That's just absolutely fantastic what the team have done at Apple to make sure PC-users can easily adjust. :) I'm addicted to Macs already, and I don't even have one (yet).

Just one more question, does importing a Keynote file to Powerpoint make it lose some of the original presentation effects?

Yeah you lose the non compatible ones.
Guess that was expected since Powerpoint 2007 loses effects in 2003. This probably means I'll bring my MacBook to school for serious and important presentations.

Well thats untrue then since there are ways to get leopard going on x86
Sure, you can get Mac OS-X running on an x86, but I'm talking about what is practical. Getting OS-X working on an x86 isn't exactly practical is it? Whereas through BootCamp, you can simply install windows. And you can run both OS' parallel so you can drag and drop files between the two...

how on earth is it not practical. yeah installing it can be a pain, but i would not go as far as calling it impractical.

Has anyone heard anything about the possibility of new MacBooks and MacBook Pros coming out this October 14th?

http://gizmodo.com/5027706/rumor-macbook-touch-coming-in-october (nevermind the picture of the 'MacBook Touch')
http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=183978 I posted a few quotes

And heaps other sites you can google. It's less than a month away so I'm guessing I should wait incase I end up kicking myself in the ass for not waiting.

No, it's that you don't have EFI on the PC and driver support. If you install EFI or an EFI emulation layer and get the right driver support, Hackintoshes are awesome.

EDIT: What they meant is that there's no darwine-like API emulation layer to allow the transparent running of Mac applications on windows machines, whereas there is darwine on the mac to run pretty much any windows program (Sans .Net ones, but the mono project is working on that)
Yeah I'm being a pedantic dick, because apparently people like to use windows machines in place of x86 stuff which drives this incessant e-jerk off that we constantly have. If I wanted to see fat geeks trying to out do each other, I'd go watch some shit porn.

Yeah it's a fucking shitstorm in the nomenclature.

Also FYI just to qualify my above statement, they're not using the Intel TPM (Trusted Platform module) to provide OS validation on any mac computers.

The impractical part is indeed the installation. What normal person with common knowlege about computers would even contemplate putting the Mac OS on an x86? People get a Windows based machine to run windows and a Mac to run Mac OS. Why bother fussing with an annoying installation, anyway, when you could install Windows through BootCamp as simply as you would Windows onto an x86?

With Kalyway's installer it's now easier than installing Windows Xp onto a new PC.

Dude without MAC's we'd have no networking and internet and IP... you might want to rethink what you're talking about.

I know for a fact that many individuals cringe at the idea of a one-buttoned mouse and no 'start' icon.

[YOu can set the mouse to have a supplementary button, that is, a two button mouse. Also, the start menu can be replaced by 'Finder' and 'Applications']

The fact is that many who don't like to idea of having a Mac haven't tried one themselves. Years ago, my impression of Macs is as stated above - [giggle] 'one buttoned mouse - LOL'.

It has then got to the stage where I could not stand Windows OS anymore. The system was horrible even though kicking the machine would do no good. Before my iMac, my previous computer had Windows Vista on it, so you could say that it's relatively new. I really liked it when I first started the computer - a very handsome interface, everything seemed to 'fit-in'. But a few weeks into operation, everything seemed to lag and trail behind, as though there were stones in its shoes. I had to reformat the computer once a month to eradicate this issue. Mind you, the computer was not cheap - at $1300 for the tower only.

Two months ago, I purchased my iMac after trying it out at the new Apple store. I was intrigued at how fast startup was and how programs seemed to open as soon as you touched the Mighty Mouse. But of course, I had to question its reliablelity through time - could this be the same with all computers - when you're into your second month of it, with programs, files and the lot, everything seems to drag you down. SO I then watch a couple of reviews on YouTube. After being impressed at the fact that other Mac users were astounded at the product, I had to give it a try, myself.

I'm into my second/third month of my iMac - 2.66GHz. Startup times are always a nifty 28 seconds (give or take) and programs are ready to use as soon as the dock appears on the screen. I'm not a fan of 'upgrading' and the whole shebang, so that's all sort of foreign to me. But one thing that I can say about my iMac is that I can't see myself regretting this purchase.

So I'd love to prove wrong those who seem to dislike Mac thinking that it's good for all the wrong reasons. Test it out yourself and get a real computer.

Off topic but when you start your Mac for the first time, you enter into this fancy 'welcome' video which then leads to a very short and quick registration process.

I bought an iMac late last year and it has been nothing but awesome.
They take a bit of getting used to put you will prefer it once you've used both Windows and OS X
If you can use iTunes efficiently, Mac OS will be as easy as that.

But you'll need to adjust to the names of certain programs - i.e. internet browser = Safari

Off topic, but you can set your Mac to read the time out to you and verbally warn you if a program needs attention: "Excuse me, Safari needs your attention."

Did you already order one?
No. I'm gonna go get it direct from the Apple Store on George Street. Or should I just buy it from the online store?

Aren't there always discounts for online purchases?
