and ubuntu even sends a packaged cd copy to you for free (odd that the last version was from switzerland and then france though... =P)

Speaking of Linux, I installed Debian couple of weeks back, but I couldn't get into the graphic side (Debian's windows), it only stays on command screen

Sounds like you're a linux newbie, you are better of using Ubuntu.

or redhat, its pritty much out the box and there is slightly more support for it out than ubuntu at the moment. Do you know google is making a operating system based on ubuntu. Trying to compete with microsoft now...

If you want to try a Linux distro but don't know which one, try the Linux Distro Chooser. It's pretty helpful, though I went with Ubuntu (and am loving it) instead of its first recommendation, SuSE.

As for 'copies', most distros provide free CD images to burn -- you usually pay only if you order a hard copy, and some, like Ubuntu, send it out for free. :)

i cant install it cause i need to partition my hdd and i have stuff on my hdd, so i cant format it!!! :( can u actually partition a hdd without formatting it? Yeah i need linux/winxp dual operating system on my comp

version 5 i think
haha heaps old
i got it in 99, thats like 7 years ago, would that still work?

yeah but u'll need to have the hdd partitioned first
and i lost my copy of partition magic :(
