Yeah LinkedIn is great, a lot of students at my uni have it aswell.
What's your approach for this - "scatter gun" i.e. apply to many different organisations and see what you get or "concentrated" i.e. you have a few organisations in mind that you want and you will only apply to these? Just wondering because I've been hearing mixed advice about this, some recommend quality over quantity and vice versa.
When I was looking for vacation work last year I just concentrated on a few organisations, and managed to get offers from all of the ones that I applied to. But I know of friends who did the scatter gun approach and managed alright.
I'll most likely be applying for a bunch of summer vacationer roles at a few firms. I think there can never be too much relevant work experience on ones resume. Scoring a role is becomming increasingly difficult though.
Extra-cirriculars always help! Great way to differentiate yourself from other candidates. Although my marks are pretty solid, a lot of the times in interviews, extra-cirriculars come up a fair bit, so it's definitely worth investing time into.
