Hahaha but local council elections mean I get to talk to old people and hear such lines as: "When I was your age they gave me a gun and said 'Go on, shoot some Japs'"
My highlight was this 70ish woman who came to take How-to-votes, with this T-shirt which had "Abortion is a deadly sin" written across the front. I wondered if I should even bother offering her something from Labor, but then figured the possible entertainment value was too high for me not to.
So I gave her the paper. She looked at it, pointed at the photo of the councillor on it and said "Is he a good man?" I said yes, she said "Does he support the humans?" I said yes, and she took the Labor how-to-vote and refused to take all others.
Who knew how easy it could be for the Left to court the religious right vote?
Anyway, this all serves Carpenter right for being such a blatant political opportunist in his calling of the election.
