One would be a fool to think the reality ends in an economic model without assessing the externalities though. Economic models are inexact and imperfect. I might pay $5 million to see a concert; the concert might through noise pollution make $1 million in damage, but this isn't factored into the price.
You're doing law so I'm sure you'd understand what a tort is...

It is if the stadiums neighbours have noise rights which the concert organisers have to buy..... this could be covered by the market in a variety of ways... torts for one...

EDIT: b10

Woah! Torts, In your Utopia there is no legislature, there are no courts, there surely can be no tortuous law in a free world?

Depends on the understanding of the hypothetical each of us is presenting. I assert this if rock music died today, for example. Anyhow, this wasn't what I originally argued. I didn't say rock music took away from medical research, I was saying that musicians didn't contribute as much for what they're worth as, say, medical researchers, because of externalities.
Then your argument is about relative wealth of musicians and doctors. Johnny Rebel down the road having a 3 storey mansion doesn't make my doctor's two storey house any less valuable, unless you believe that we should construct our economic system to massage people's egos/jealousy.

What people value is not determined by what they will pay for something, and therefore people's incomes do not give a decent idea of the value of their contributions to a state. That is my argument, I'm not going to bother rebutting or going off on tangents any more.

And what if there's no-one that can bring an action against the musicians?

I like the way you ridicule a situation when you can't rebut an argument

That would imply that no one was adversely effected by the noise and no negative externality existed?
People often are, but don't have the means to finance a huge action. Look at something like Exxon Valdez, proving that even if an action is initiated, success isn't guaranteed

They'd have to prove damages from the noise pollution...

Yet to see a stadium in a suburban area, though...

So you're not going to justify your argument at all but just state your idiotic axioms and then when criticised in an economic scope, you'll whinge and scream that it's about 'the vibe'?
