"One day,
Before I realized fat kids were not designed to climb trees,
I fell out of a tree,
And bruised the right side of my body."

I don't know what techniques might lie in this seemingly un-analysable text. So suggestions are welcomed!

The word "fat", I'm not sure what the technique is.

Why do you need to analyse this? Why not any other part of this text?

While you did make me rethink what in the world I'm doing for a second, I found why I'm analysing this and I believe it's circumlocution. I don't know whether or not it's considered a technique, but I'm using it anyway. :hammer:

ooh this thread could have potential:

"A brave man would have been the slayer, as the slain was a brave man. "

The repetition of 'brave man' is coupled with the repeated conjugate of 'slay' therefore epitomizing the tautological nature of this statement

incongruence between persona's pain and his detached unemotional tone (humour)

How about this one?

"That an ingrown life
Is something surgeons can cut away,
That there’s no way for it to metastasize

It does."

"I hadn't studied at all for my exams and I was freaking out but then, suddenly, Zeus appeared in the sky telling all the HSC students that the Board of Studies had decided to cancel the HSC for 2015, because all modes of transport in the world had stopped working and thus none of the papers could be delivered to schools. I grinned effusively as I frolicked into the sunset to the tune of Darude-Sandstorm"

Go
(and no the answer is not schizophrenia)
