So if im hoping for a base UAI of 70 + 5 bonus Area uai points and if i get an 80 in business will give me 80 UAI for B Business and Commerce which should guarentee me a place at any campus :D

It is a new course called b.business & commerce.
it is available at the parramatta campus.
they are hoping for 70 uai for first round offers..
probably drop down to 68 for second round.

it's a nice course cause for the first year you do a general learning of the majors, then second year etc you move onto your specialised majors :)

I never understand how scaling works.. like for different subjects ie Legal studies is much harder than english however in english some years a 64 got scled to a band 4 etc.. does anything like that happen for legal studies?

Yeah thats what im asking. Like in 2u they say a raw mark of 50-60% = 70-80% scaled mark not sure if its true but i want an idea for legal studies aswell.

I always thought that legal studies doensn't actually scale all that well. Definately not as well scaled as subjects like economics, physics, chemistry. I dont know what kind of raw mark will be needed for band 6 . . . but id imagine that you'd need to get fairly close to 90, although it will depend on the difficulty of the test . . .

Yeh legal is an ok scaler.... not as much as the harder sciences like physics or chem. I got 89 in the trial but im hoping to get higher, about 93/94.

Aligning is the process where raw marks get raised to certain cut offs. A mark of about 86 should align to a b6 for legal studies but it depends on the difficulty of the exam

dont worry about scaling...just do the best you can in the exam and what you get is what you get. if you only need 80 for b6, would u only study 80 marks worth?i think not.

Just remember scalling means nothing if you pick based only on scalling and not on ur ability for the subject. I've heard though it scales pretty well. That said do well and you'll be fine

you don't know how a subject is going to 'scale'...it depends on the candidature's ability this year.
last yr we had a relatively strong candidature, this is why people who got like straight band 4/5's, only got uai's in like the low 70's...some even in the 60s.
it just depends on how your year performs as a whole.

also, my philosophy is that if you do well, why are you going to worry about scaling or all that other crap? aim for high 80s raw (minimum) and you'll be finE!
