Just wondering how hard it is to transfer into law at USYD? What sort of GPA would you be expected to have? Also, what kinds of marks would that require?

I am interested in knowing if anyone has managed to get into USYD LAW by transfer this year?
I heard they didn't take in any students this year. Dammit.

In America, yes. Most Australian universities use a scale where
0 = Fail (I think)
3 = Conceded Pass
4 = Pass
5 = Credit
6 = Distinction
7 = High Distinction

I heard they take heaps of transfer students, which is one of the reasons the cut off is so ridiculously high.
What's the process with a law transfer anyhow? Do you apply through UAC?

Yes. it goes thru UAC.

usyd took in a reasonably number of students last year.. I am dying to know the figure for this year. =)

I was talking to one of the guys from the law office at USYD, and he said you require 98 and above. Even 98.5 +.

I transferred from a combined law degree (UWS) to a Usyd's grad law once i finished my non-law degree component. My UAI was 94.25 my GPA was 6.00.

When you transferred to USYD, do u get any credit for your law subjects? Can u still finish the degree in 5 yrs? =)

Entry to the grad program means that the degree last 3 years.

So that is 3 yrs for your first degree PLUS 3 yrs for the grad entry USYD Law degree.

So I got a UAI of 98.70 last year, doing Comm/Arts this year at USyd.

What GPA should I be aiming for to transfer into Law?

I keep hearing the whole, '96UAI and Distinction average' stuff. Does this mean I can get away with a high credit average, because uni is harrd at the moment :rofl:

I got the same UAI as you, and the guy at the info day told me I could get away with a high credit average. Does anyone know when we have to apply through UAC for transfers?

hey,

i got a UAI of 98.2, and got 2 credit's, a distinction and a HD in first sem. If i'm wanting to transfer into usyd law, will i need a D avg? and whats this whole NRSL thing, and GPA's. Does anybody anywhere take into account that my 2 credit's were both 74? or does it not matter if you get 74 or 65.... If so, the system seems a little stupid to me.

Tough luck if you get a x4. They go via GPA, so 74=65

What if we're another uni's student but have an average of High Distinction, how do we transfer to COM/LAW at USYD?

Is the process thru UAC too?

Erm, didn't you apply for grad law, not transfer into it...?

Erm, is there a difference? Unless you're doing an internal transfer between courses at the same uni, you have to go through UAC and apply for the new course.
