Well they're tied on 10th in terms of university ranking. UOW is kind of remote, macquarie's closer to the city and thus has a proximity to industry bodies, more chances for internships etc. Macquarie was also the first uni in Australia to teach actuarial studies so it's feasible to assume that they have a certain strength in commerce related subjects.
