You got that number from here: http://pcworld.about.com/od/notebooks/Ditch-Your-Desktop-for-a-Lapto.htmThe average weight for a ranked laptop was 8.83 pounds (google)
8.83 pounds = 4.00522063 kilograms
My laptop has a lithium 12 battery in it so its about 6 kilos I think
No one said anything about a netbook, the best laptop specs are like a Core i7 and 12 GB RAM? Yeah, you don't need a huge 17" desktop replacement for that, you can get them in a 14 incher.Try use SAS/MATLAB/Mathematica/MAPLE on a netbook.
Even in 2007, you didn't need a 17" desktop replacement for the best specs. You got that number from here: http://pcworld.about.com/od/notebooks/Ditch-Your-Desktop-for-a-Lapto.htm
That article is from 2007, it's meaningless now.
Mines a bit like yours:i7 1.73ghx, 4GB of RAM, NVidia Geforce GT 330M, 16" screen, 500GB hard drive. 4.6kgs, the only problem with it is the fact that I picked an i7 so my battery life is only 3 hours tops. It sucks.
It's your huge screen eating up most of the battery, the i7 is only a bit more power hungry than a high-end Core 2 Quad.i7 1.73ghx, 4GB of RAM, NVidia Geforce GT 330M, 16" screen, 500GB hard drive. 4.6kgs, the only problem with it is the fact that I picked an i7 so my battery life is only 3 hours tops.
