I flew with KE to Seoul a few years ago, before they introduced their new IFE product with PTVs. Hospitality was great, but would've preferred them including English as part of their inflight public announcements. The seats were fine, as is the same with meals.

As far as I'm concerned about traditional Korean means, they had bibinbap or whatever it's called.

when i flew with them the inflight announcements were in english and korean (and then german on the way from seoul to frankfurt) and the films all at least had english subtitles, if not actually english soundtracks....

KE is the... callsign? Qantas is to QF, Korean Air is to KE.

Anyways, on the flight to ICN, public announcements were in Korean - maybe it's just me or perhaps their pronunciation of things got out of hand. I flew with them a few years back - the IFE was crap!

But... I'd imagine that it's better than a few others... like the former Australian Airlines (the one that was recently owned by Qantas, the orange livery) where the public announcements were in Japanese - despite 1/2 the crew being Australian and the cabin screen rarely showed the flight map - my form of inflight entertainment. Thank goodness that they're not around anymore.

the announcments from SYD-ICN were Korean then English then from ICN-FRA were Korean then English then German which just got annoying because each announcment took forever!

IFE was pretty good - on SYD-ICN when it wasnt personal when there was no film / tv show / wahtever on the screen they had the flight map and info up

Complete opposite case here. The hospitality was sensational - better than Qantas if you asked me. But considering that I'm not Korean, asking for a glass of water was a bit of trouble... WIth meals, they offered a good choice of meals, both Western and Korean dishes. Why is it that all meals, regardless of airline, with the exception of budget airlines, complement your meal with a rock solid dinner roll?

One aspect that I really like is the fact that the cabin crew actually made a public announcement when meals are ready to be served and the choices you have. I was on Qantas less than a year ago to JFK and the cabin crew started serving breakfast when everybody was asleep - literally! Luckily, I was wide awake during that time - equiv of 11PM EST in the air and managed to wake the rest of my family.

LOL but it's better than none - like that of Qantas - main announcements were during taxi and arrival. On Korean Air, when the aircraft experiences turbulence, the seat belt sign would go on and one of the crew members would verbally remind passengers and the reasons behind it. On QF, I've experienced several cases of turbulence during my journey to JFK (quite fun, really ), the fasten seatbelt sign would go on - the only message, yes, only one out of n number of cases, the first officer simply said 'passengers and crew be seated immediately'.

the call-sign is only used for coms; KE812, descend to 4000ft or something like that or when you are specifically referring to a flight number..

i suppose i made a something out of nothing..but yeah..
doesnt really matter when you write it..

KE have ordered A380s - however, I've little knowledge of the first KE A380 and its inaugural flight.
