Can anyone recommend any websites and television channels (+ times) to keep up-to-date with the current economic happenings?

http://www.leadingedge.com.au/news/statistics.php its not always up do date but its good for quick reference...

www.rba.gov.au
www.abs.gov.au

Any articles by Ross Gittins, usually found on "the australian" site or smh site.

Sometimes SBS has good info, trends, stats, current out look, reports etc. 9:30pm most weeknights i think...

and read the australian financial review, theres a shit ton of info there.

hope this helps ;)

I tend to use The Economist for international economic data in the general sense (e.g. unemployment rate, economic growth). Saves having to go to the numerous websites of each country's official economic organisations.
