Should probably know you've been signed up for the French Foreign Legion.

Haha, just kidding :)

Enquire about their free download hours (If they still have them, I think they used to be 2am-9am).

You're on the 12 or 20 gbs 'unlimited' i assume.

Only thing you need to know is that between 2-9am there is 'yes' data, which is double your normal usage.

Also the cap (after you go over) isnt so bad anymore, it used to be 28k but now its 64k - which is faster than dial up!

Oh, for cable? Well then, I better keep my mouth shut, hah.

I did have Telstra cable back when there was a 3GB cap (had it installed in mid 2002). Had it for about 6 months until I ran up a $1400+ bill.

I personally had no troubles with Telstra's service, it was always at it's best and I hardly had any down time. The only obvious criticsm I have is the very, very small cap that they had. They have a 10GB (unlimited***) cap now, do they not?

the funny thing is optus adsl is more expensive when optus cable, for exactly the same plan, only the speed difference. adsl is $69, while cable is 64. ofcourse if yuo can and want adsl rather then dial up go with someone else eg TPG (which i wanted to )

don't upload excessively from P2P programs.
They will ban your account.

and make sure your computer is more or less spyware free.
Somehow that will relate to a banned account

Cool ill call them tomorrow. I just regret buying some of this adsl gear now, gonna have to sell it. The other option was to transfer over to telstra phone, get them to set up the proper copper lines and then transfer back over to optus (since telstra doesnt have an minimum contracts to stay on). But too much hassle to do that. At least i can still use the wireless router i got.

Watch out, if you go over your 12gig peak allowance you won't be able to use the off peak allowance anymore.
