Hi all. I haven't posted in a while but just have a question. I've been invited to an interview at Monash Uni for their JD program. Just wondering if anyone knows what types of questions I'll be asked? Is it just an extension of what the application form covered? Also, I'm guessing that they expect you to dress professionally (suit or whatever)?

Thanks :)

They may ask you to re-state or elaborate on the answers you gave in the application form. They will also want to see for themselves your level of motivation, as well as ask you questions to find out how seriously you've looked into a career in law. There will be the inevitable "Is there anything you want to ask?" question so be prepared for that. It's a bit like a job interview, they want to meet you face-to-face to make sure what they see matches up with the paper application they received.

Good luck!

What kind of legal knowledge will they expect me to have? Hope they don't ask me anything too specialised

Just being a postgraduate degree, I assumed they'd expect a bit more from applicants than those applying for an LLB for example

I don't get it. You were underestimating the interview earlier when you asked whether to dress appropriately or not. Now you're overestimating it by thinking they expect you to answer legal questions?

What they're basically looking from you is that you're not stupid, that you're as articulate as you looked on the application, that you're motivated, that you've made an informed choice, that you know what you're getting yourself into.

you should wear a barrister's wig to show your eagerness to enter the legal profession.

Had the interview today. I think it went quite well but we'll have to wait and see. I'll found out in about 2-3 weeks.

Congrats! Is the first trimester still at Clayton campus or will you start at the Law Chambers?

So are you ready for it? Are you going to start reading those books they recommended?
