Now that all the UAI are in, most people would of already made thier final preferences already, though a few would change preferences on the last minute...

is there a way to find out what the likely cuttoff will be before January16?

phone up the uni?

Largely, no.

The entry UAI is an indicator of the demand for places in that course, and essentially cannot be determined until all requests are processed. Although some institutions such as UTS have released their cutoffs, so checking websites would be a good place to start.

The answer is No, because the 2008 cut-off marks won't be available till the later rounds (January 17th-February 1st 08). The UAC 2008 guide book for uni cut-off marks is an estimation based on 2007 cut-off marks and can be used as a possible indicator for next years cut-off marks.

No. The cut-offs can only be generated once preferences have been sent out because the cut-offs are the lowest accepted UAI for the current year. Universities can have some idea of what they'd prefer the lowest UAI to be, but they may be forced to accept lower UAIs in order to fulfil their quotas of students. So no. There's absolutely no way of finding out short of this:

But not everyone is in a position to do that.
