Say you wanted to use Dicken's "Great Expectations" as a related text for your AOS essay. Is that allowed? If it is, is it frowned upon? Thanks!

No, as long as you can write good enough about it, it's fine.

No you can use previously prescribed texts.. Otherwise you'd be fairly limited when it comes to related texts!
