Customers are more than likely stupid.

The problem being their stupidity means they don't know they're stupid so they also becme stubborn and irritable.

People who buy computers from Harvey Norman and the like are most likley to be stupid. Also people who go car shopping for a small jap hatch tend to be pretty dumb.

Maybe those weren't the best examples. I definately don't agree with the statement though, I have too many examples of how stupid some customers can be.
However, I do not agree with you, but rather agree with Townie.

If the mother comes straight out and says
"I'm buying it for him, it's okay, he's my kid"
then I would also refuse to serve her.
It is against the law to buy alcohol for minors so if I know that she is buying it for her kid then I would most certainly not sell it to her. Wouldn't think about it for a second.

ive sold cigarettes to parents who are purchasing it for their children
but thats coz i smoke..so i dont really care..

someone told me you cannot sell cigarettes to under age people or people who are buying it 4 underage ppl

then i heard u can smoke legally at 16 but not buy them
so how the fuck r u supposed to get ur cigaretets if u cant buy them 4 urself or have sumone buy them 4 u..
i just dunno?

i had kid come into the pub i work at.. i knew he was only 16-17, cause i went 2 school with his sis.... anyway, he ran $50 through the smokes machine, it only takes $5 and $10 notes, so he came over to me at the bar and threw the money at me and asked for change, i asked him for ID and he told me he just needed money for the cigarette machine, and i told him he was not allowed in the pub cause he had no ID or any parent/guardian who was deemed 'responsible'... he took his $50 and tried putting it back through the machine then walked out, when i called my manager..... and he told him 2 fuck off

When I was doing some higher duties training like for supervisor for pizza hut. I was taught the principles that "the customer is always right" so if a customer makes a complaint about another team member or something that you dispute, you still gotta apologise and then satisfy the customer.

But many times I've come across situations where the customer just wanted another pizza cos they were still hungy and complaint wasn't genuine.
But because I dont' own the business and I'm sure you don't either. I'd just say stuff it and just give the customer what they want.

Why make the job harder for you by disputing?
Give them what they want easy done.

Regarding the first post. There's a Fair Trading law with a sticker posted near the cashier in woolworths and says something like
if the scanned item is different (lower or higher) than the shelf item, the customer gets that item free.

If there's many items, the customer gets the 1st item free and the rest at the lower price.




Giving them an extra pizza i'm not going to lose out, but many times it's those people who order and want credit. The only is the Area Manager comes down like a ton of bricks when she sees the Refunds and Credits and Replacement Costs (how much we gave out for free).
There's also customers who constantly complain for ridiculous reasons.

Having just helped this woman at a register the other day (I was very friendly about a mistake that was made and she got the stock at a lower price in a show of good will from me, I didn't have to give her a discount, but did) she has the nerve to turn around and ask me who was in charge of keeping the store tidy. I replied that "everyone is" and she said "well its just that everytime I come in here its messy" and I said in my most sarcastically polite turn "well I assure you ma'am that the store starts off perfect every morning, its certainly not the staff who throw the stock on the floor" she replies with an arrogant and equally as 'nice' tone "well the customer is always right you know" and I turned around and said "well if being a disrespecful pig is whats right, then I guess they are" and with an enormous fake smile told her to have a LOVELY day and walked away.

That only applies to supermarkets. A liquor store is not a supermarket, its a specialist retailer.

like roast chickens in the nappy isle
prawn from seafood on the shelf with cans
meat on the shelfs and juice
u would think ppl couls atleat sdump it in the cold section

a gravy tin filled with bbq sauce..and an empty bbq sauce bottle
an egg holder cup filled with bbq sauce..dumped in the gardening section
its so wrong..customers can be soo bad..

Nah, its amazing how many people come into kmart and demand they get something free when it scans wrong. "Its the law!" they exclaim.....and then I smugly get to explain that if they had researched said law they would see that this law applies only to supermarkets. 'Perhaps you'd like to go down to coles?' I suggest. Ahh its so satisfying hehe

its just a policy..that sum stores do and dont have
places like kmart cant do that
u sell t.vs for thousands..if it scans higher do they expect it free..lol

Situtations when the customer is "right" (from Myer or Target):

- Seeing an item on the same table as another item on sale, and assuming both are. EG We have a sign saying "shirts on sale" on a table with shirts and pants, and they demand that the pants that they just bought should have a discount, or else it is false advertising

- Seeing an item with the wrong label under it and assuming it is the right label. EG Finding a boardgame with the price tag for playing cards under it (CLEARLY saying playing cards) and demanding to have it at that price or it is false advertising.

Customer Questions that piss me off:

- What is the price of this? (use the price check point)
- On signs that say "was $, now$, % off", asking why the price isn't % off the new $.
